Never thought I’d buy such a big tent, but 2 kids later I was in need of a quality family car camping tent. Being able to stand in a tent is a total game changer and I loved the look of springbars but I had my concerns about the not so “waterproof” qualities of canvas. Several torrential downpours and hailstorms later, one of them a multi day late autumn rain cycle, and I can assure you “watertight” is as good as “waterproof”. In the wettest conditions you may feel a little dampness on the inside walls but they are so vertical it really doesn’t matter. I think this would also happen in a “waterproof” single wall tent, but the canvas breathes 10x better than other materials so I think it’s more comfortable rain or shine. In all the rain and hail I have never seen a leak or stream of water enter the tent, and the floor is very rugged. Also very nice in high wind as there’s not much to flap around if it’s all closed up and no guy lines to trip over. Love this tent and look forward to many happy years in it.
