I bought a factory 2nd because other people said that they did and it was fixed so well that they didn't see the problem. Well I bought one and just used it last night. It wasn't terribly hard to setup on my own. Once I got it up, I couldn't see anything out of place or where the original problem was! I bought a Springbar because my aunt had one when I was growing up and it always looked brand new. She took such great care of it. My cousin still has it today. That was 25+ years ago. I figure if I can have a tent for 25+ year and pass it to my kids it is the best investment anyone can spend the money on. I know it seems like a lot up front, but for years and years of service, it deserves to be purchased!
The storm fly is easy to use, maintains the tent by adding a barrier for tree debris and makes take down better should the weather be inclement…recommend highly!
Perfect! Should have a larger storage bag.
So when I looked at the CJ-140, I wanted extend my camping season into the winter. Being in Kentucky, the stove jack option was intriguing. We have about 10 seasons here, so being prepared is the best option. To date, I have used the tent three times. Cold weather with rain, cold weather no rain, and warm weather with monsoon rain and storms. The CJ-140 has performed as advertised. No leaks.. no problems. I did purchase the storm fly, ground tarp, and side panels. I would highly recommend all. The storm fly keeps the tent drier, and cleaner in the driving rain. Packing up this last trip was fun since everything was wet. When we got home, everything was spread out in the driveway and completely dried out.
I cannot wait until the next outing. BTW, my grandkids think the CJ-140 is awesome.
We bought the Family Camper because we wanted the largest size to grow into as a family of four—and it’s perfect. Spacious, comfortable, and I can stand up inside with room to spare (I’m 5'10"). We went with the Suntan color since it’s a nice balance between light and dark, great for hiding dirt and stains.
We seriously considered the CJ 140 but ultimately chose this model because it’s made in the USA, comes with aluminum poles, and we’re not planning to winter camp—though that nearly swayed us. Setup was a breeze (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise), and the construction feels rock solid.
Yes, it’s heavy—it’s a canvas tent—but that’s expected. The included bags make transport and storage manageable. The attention to detail really stands out, and we’re confident this tent will serve our family well for years to come.
Sturdy, strong pin lock and holes in right places for range of ridgeline heights. I added a tic mark on the inner pole to facilitate lining up the pin with the botton hole.
Everything’s as expected and awesome! I echo the comment that it would be great if there was a holding strap for the main tent bag so you don’t have to bear hug it around. I tried putting the straw-like strap around my shoulder to lug the tent about 75 ft to the campsite and got a minor rope burn on my shoulder.
We stopped by the factory in Utah while on vacation in 2024, the staff were very accommodating. We spent the rest of the year deliberating and finally decided to go for it. It is a great tent. Easy to set up and take down. We like the quality of the material of the tent, the poles and the stakes. Looking forward to enjoying many camping trips in the future in our Vagabond tent .
Been using the Traveler since I bought it and it’s very easy to setup and a nice tent over all.
