To be honest, I haven't used it yet, but if it functions in the same way as the other Springbar Stormfly covers, then I will be happy with it. I did unpack for the first time the Stormfly for my 10 X 10 Classic Jack, and it performed well during steady rain on the San Rafael Swell only days ago, keeping us dry and making for easier/faster take down on Saturday morning. The canvas tent body did not need as much time to dry. On all Stormfly products I would still recommend that two independent zippers be used, each one starting in the middle and zipping toward the ends. That way a larger Stormfly could be used on almost any tent with a smaller footprint and still zip onto the ridgepole, with excess on each end merely left unzipped.
I've only been on one trip so far but it held up to 30mph gusts like a champ on that trip. It was pretty easy to put up by myself and I love all the room I have now.
This is the most amazing company!! A real person answers the phone. If you have any issues they help you resolve them. Their products work exactly as promised. Our extended family owns 5 tents the with the ground cloths and a couple rain flies. Some tents are over 30 years old. These products are well worth the investment. I also own several weekender duffels and just recently took one for my personal belongings on a two week remote Tatshenshini/Alsek whitewater rafting trip in Canada and Alaska. It was exactly what I needed and even substituted as my pillow at night. I highly recommend these duffel bags.
The Springbar - Large kept my 10x14 springbar tent 100% dry during 2 days of continuous downpour.
Springbars products AND customer service both are (just as everyone says)... THE BEST...period!
Just treat these stakes right. They won't go through a rock in the ground! If you do happen to keep pounding the stake, the end will curl up like a snail shell, and kaput. Have no fear! You can always buy replacement stakes at the Springbar website, or store like I did!
Straight from the box into high wind and temps in the teens. Tent stayed up and stayed warm with small heater. Just enough room for two small cots, a couple chairs and a small table to cook on. Very satisfied with purchase.
I like the design and camo of my Large Rainnfly. Thanks
First camping trip with my Skyliner was for a weeklong deer camp. Lots of gear and a lot of rain during our trip. We had three days where it rained all day long and didn't have any leaks. Had one small area that wet out on the roof the first full day of the rain but it never dripped. The after drying and getting rain again it didn't seem to wet out like before. Did not use a wood stove but with 3 cots and hunting gear, space disappears quick, I couldn't imagine trying to do that with a stove. With that said I do plan on getting a stove for when we need less gear. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the purchase.
Factory 2nd is a great way to get a discount on a quality tent. The defects are so minor, it is difficult for any person to find the defects even when made known it is a factory 2nd. I would recommend factory 2nds to anyone that wants a high quality canvas tent with a discount.
The tent was as high quality as you could hope it to be. But what I was most impressed with was how Springbar follow up in their customer service. There was a couple of things I needed help with regarding set up, and the function of the poles. They followed up quickly on helping fix an issue I had. Great company.
