Update Customer Service and Repair

Back story: One of the tension rods snapped like a twig and tore a gaping hole in the tent on the first day out. This happened shortly after a rainstorm. The sky was calm but the tent was drenched.

I emailed customer support that night and they responded the next day. The support was great, with great communication, prompt response, and no hassle except for the usual packing and hauling of the tent to the UPS store. I’m happy to report that I got my tent back in about a week and a half. The damaged area looks as good as new and I got 4 new tension rods to boot. The new ones have a different color tint than the old ones. I’m not sure what that means but I hope it performs better than the last one.

While customer support was great, I feel that the tent needs more improvement. I can only give it 4.5 stars.

The black tent poles may look nice but it does little to prevent rust.

When I first unpacked the tent. I noticed a slight damage on the screen mesh. I wasn't sure how it got damaged but it didn’t bother me much. However, when I got the tent back from the repair, I now knew how the screen mesh got damaged. The velcro from the canvas door got stuck on the screen mesh. There was no good way to unstuck it and damage to the mesh was inevitable. Now the mesh looked horrible and it wasn't even my doing! A simple trick is to fasten the hook and loop pieces together before packing the tent away so the hook can't come in contact with the screen mesh. Even if I had known this trick it wouldn't have mattered cuz it was not my doing. Frustrating, to say the least. Magnets anyone?!
