In honesty I thought this was overpriced, but I wanted to have some protection under the stove. I was using my stove in the tent for the first time over the weekend and the coals were pretty close to the front of the stove. When I opened to door to add more wood 3 hot coals, not embers or sparks, but dime sized coals fell out of the stove. I had a mild freakout, but was able to extinguish them with some water after 10 seconds or so. I really thought the mat would be damaged, but was shocked to see not really a mark on it even. Only downside was because it was near the front leg, the coals were very close to the tent floor and were able to melt a hole in it and the tarp I had under it. Was just shocked the mat was pretty much unharmed by the coals sitting right on it. The tent damage would have been worse without the mat under the stove.
