StormFly® Benefits:
Features/Specs:
High quality rainfly. Easy to setup. Worked great in rain storm with 15 to 25 mph winds.
We haven’t used yet but excited
This handy little cover for my 10x10 keeps off the bird poop and helped keep the tent warmer during early spring camping. I love the straps and the red buckles.
Just a word of warning- unpack this before going camping as there is a tissue paper protector that gets stuck to the underside that is a pain to remove.
If you're going to use one of these tents regularly, I would definitely buy this for a few reasons. First, it didn't occur to me until I was hit with a recent rain in my Traveler that due to the design you can't really use the windows in the rain. The stormfly solves this problem to allow you to at least partially open them and get some ventilation if desired. Second, while canvas has plenty of advantages, it's far easier to clean off tree sap, bird poop, etc from the stormfly than it is the canvas roof of the tent. Third, as they mention in their video, it helps with keeping the tent dry for the day you need to tear down. Fourth, it's dead simple to use and align compared to rainflys on traditional tents which can be annoying difficult to line up, and then get on properly, particularly on a big tent that is taller than you as a solo camper. With the material that is designed to zip on to the roof poles, it's super easy align and to get this on the first try correctly whether zipping it on when setting up the tent initially or throwing it on afterwards. The springbar video describing this "doesn't recommend" using it with the awning which is definitely a downside, though I haven't tried it myself, I also don't see why that couldn't work out, we'll see. Rain or shine I intend to use this every time.
